Staff write-up
The legacy of this album will always be that it serves as a tribute to their fallen guitarist, Brian James. Choosing to cover some of his favorite songs and closing it out with a performance by the man himself is a noble effort and a classy way to offer a final goodbye.
Musically, it’s good to hear the band back. They’re older, sure, but they still sound fresh. Even though I’m unfamiliar with a handful of the tracks, it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment. The performances feels loose, fun, and respectful without ever rocking out hard.
Not Like Everybody Else has earned its spot in my 2026 playlist. It’s not essential Damned, but it’s heartfelt, sincere, and worth the listen.
